Rallying a team of volunteers is essential for any VBS or Event. This will help you accomplish more things in a shorter amount of time. This will also bring great unity and synergy to your church. Below is a short description of each volunteer group. You might have some volunteers that overlap.

Group Leaders (4yrs - 2nd Grade): These Group Leaders will work together to guide their VBS attendees through the Heroes VBS each day. Typically these Leaders are over the age of 18 and already serve in Children's Ministry. We recommend all Group Leaders to be hands on during Crafts and Activities.  2-4+ Leaders are recommended for these ages.

Group Leaders (3rd - 6nd Grade): These Group Leaders will work together to guide their VBS attendees through the Heroes VBS each day. Typically these Leaders are over the age of 18 and already serve in Children's Ministry. We recommend all Group Leaders to be hands on during Crafts and Activities. 2-4+ Leaders are recommended for these ages.

Promotions: This Group will work with the Strength Team staff to obtain graphics, videos, materials to help promote the VBS to their church and community.

Registration/Sign-In: These individuals will be in charge of tracking how many children are registered and assist with sign-in & pick-up each day. 2-4 volunteers for sign-in and pick-up is recommend.

​Materials / Set Up: This Group will help gather all necessary materials for decorating for VBS in a Heroes theme. They will also help with ordering or gathering materials for Strength Team performance. They will need to collect items for the activities and games. (see links below for Strength Team Materials + Stages Design Materials)

-Stage Backdrop (can be made of reinforced cardboard or thin particle board that is cut in the shape of buildings. Painted in bright colors and supported by 2x4's or secured to a stationary structure.

Sound / Lights / Video: This Group will help make sure a microphone is available for VBS. A CD or MP3 can play through the sound system and a Projector is ready to play video or slides. See download page for videos and images.

Snack / Lunch: These helpers will coordinator the snack or lunch for each day. We recommend nothing too high in sugar. Remember that some children are allergic to certain foods. This Group will also help arrange a meal for Family Night (if you are doing a meal that night). You might want to omit any snacks or lunch items that have nuts or dairy.  

​

Crafts: This person will be coordinating the Craft each day. They will make sure all materials for crafts are ordered or gathered. They will also set up and clean up before and after each craft.
